“Seven Last Words“
This piece connects the two sets of last words. The top layer has Jesus’ 7 last words labeled on the 7 Black males portraits (who were slain by police) linocut prints. The middle layer are their pastel portraits labeled with their actual spoken last words. The bottom layers are abstracted collages of each portrait (relating to the Holy Spirit).
This artwork was exhibited in the Marietta Cobb Museum of Art 2023 Metro Montage XXIII
GRIOT series
In West African culture, griots are storytellers, oral historians, praise singers, musicians, and genealogists. They are often considered cultural keepers, preserving and transmitting history, traditions, and social values through oral storytelling and musical performances. Therefore, I have chosen these 12 rap artists to represent our present day griots.

FLAG SERIES

TWENTY-THREE Series – inspired by my poem “Twenty-Three” and created from 19 linocuts & 4 intaglio cuts of 23 different black males portraits of the sports world. I selected these 23 different Black male sportsmen to honor my step-father who died on 02-23-2003. Each Black male received an “un-” title. My Dad was my hero, but I don’t think he ever understood how special he was, as with many other Black males.
